Or are they generating more leads for you? This topic was brought to light by Sterling Sky’s own Joy Hawkins on Twitter earlier in the week. Google has dropped a new feature which is nothing short of colossal. I want to explore all angles of the big button that’s set to make waves in the world of Sales and Marketing.
I’ll start by letting you know that the “Request a Quote” Call-To-Action feature is yet to hit the UK and is currently only available in the USA and Canada. I’m sure it won’t be long, make sure you’re ahead of the game.
While widely available, to be able to access Googles’ newest addition, you will need to have opted in to “Google My Business”. Once opted-in, you must ensure the messaging aspect of this is switched on. In theory, the lead generation machine that is Google will pop the button on your business entry in their search engine. It’s a great addition and makes your CTA much clearer and just waiting to be clicked.
Here’s how to get it going:
- Download the Google My Business app.
- Log in with the account details attached to your listing
- Open the location you’d like to manage
- Click Customers
- Click Messages
- Turn on!
This new feature has the potential to generate masses of new leads for your business. With the population’s ever-increasing need for speed, making the act of booking a quote or demo 1.2 seconds faster without having to enter your website is going to be an attractive prospect.
HOWEVER, Google is receiving some criticism for keeping everyone in Google, reducing traffic through your website. If you’re already a CommuniGator customer, you will, of course, be familiar with GatorLeads. GatorLeads is our IP tracking tool which monitors visitor’s behaviour on your website and scores them accordingly from a cold to hot lead. This is a great way to build a rapport with your potential client base. You can see what they’re interested in and how interested they are.
Another potential pitfall to this blindingly obvious CTA is you could end up inundated with dead leads – people clicking without necessarily being interested. At CommuniGator, we like to nurture our leads and find out as much as we can about them to ensure our time and theirs is being used wisely.
Whichever way you look at it, this has the potential to change the world for so many businesses, marketers and prospects. We doff our cap to their marketing department and the guys behind the code at Google and will be sat waiting patiently for the blue button to be rolled out to us in the UK.
